Kisspat Filigree Cascading Leaf Earrings

Hello all~

This is a short and sweet show & tell of these lovely earrings that Kisspat sent over to let me try out. I haven't worn any earrings in months so this was a much needed kick in the behind to keep my piercings from growing shut! I find myself reaching for rings and bracelets far more often than my necklaces and earrings, I keep trying to remind myself to stick some in before leaving the house...

These are made of light-weight brass leaves that cascade down into a triangle, they look huge but they're not heavy at all and hardly noticeable while you're wearing them. They're laser cut and you can tell that they're machine made, but very intricately designed and super pretty! Because these are linked together and each individual leaf is loose, they tend to get tangled and take a bit of work to lay flat again. This isn't something you'd want to toss in a drawer, they need to be kept hanging while not in use to make sure they don't get gnarled up. I learned that the hard way in the past with some lovely chain & gear dangly earrings, I still haven't been able to get those evil things to look the way they did before.

This came in a set of two slightly different designs, I haven't had a chance to try the second pair out yet, but they both seem to be high quality, not like the cheap jewelry you'd get at a mall that tends to fall apart. I've gotten hair stuck in an earring that I had bought from a Claires and had it fall apart in my hands just by tugging at it a bit!

Here's where to check these out if you're so inclined, the same shop also has some gorgeous agate and crystal jewelry listed that I'm drooling over. My Amazon wishlist is getting too long.....

DIY Mermaid Scale Blush

Hello, Lovelies!

I shattered my favorite blush a couple weeks ago by dropping it on the counter, and just now had some time to fix it. The mixing broken makeup with rubbing alcohol trick has been floating around for ages, but I've added my own twist onto it today.

I've used loofahs before to add mermaid scales in nail art; I figured it would work just as well for blush! I've made a little tutorial below so if you shatter any makeup compacts (although I hope you don't!) you can kill two birds with one stone by fixing it + adding in some mermaid magic to your favorite makeup.

See you later mermaids~

Spring Eye Makeup w/ Jeindeer

Morning everyone!

It's finally warming up enough to ditch those heavy winter clothes, and I wanted to celebrate by whipping together a simple springy pastel makeup look.

All the products I used are shown below, minus an e.l.f eyeshadow primer that somehow escaped the pile. I'd completely stopped curling my lashes months ago, due to a mix of laziness, losing my curler, and never buying a new one. Then a couple weeks ago Jeindeer (UK), (Germany), sent over their eyelash curler for me to try out. As curlers go, it's pretty basic, but it's made me realize that I should have never dumped my curler, curled lashes are really the cherry on top of any makeup look.

See you next time~

Splat No Bleach Color Designed for Brunettes

Hello Lovelies!

I've been chasing the perfect dark purple hair dye for about a year now. After a couple hits and misses I'd finally settled on using Schwarzkopf Ultime in Amethyst Black, I've used that shade three or four times now.

A couple days ago an ad for Splat's new line of hair dye caught my eye, it claims to be designed with brunettes in mind and promises bright colors with no bleach.
I knew there was no way in hell my hair could go to a bright purple, but it would at least be a fun experiment in my quest for the perfect inky indigo. I went with the shade Midnight Amethyst.

The picture on the right is the before, I'd gone about 4 months from my last dye job so I was working with about 1.5 inches of natural root.
The left is after, I snapped that picture real quick before running into an anime convention, I apologize for the shoddy driver's seat selfie. I was cosplaying Kiki from Kiki's Delivery Service (also the main reason I touched up my hair color, haha).

This is an incredibly pigmented dye, which I should have expected from the no bleach needed slogan. So needless to say this stained horribly; it was worse than any dye I've used before.

I was not a smart cookie and skipped putting Vaseline around my hairline and on my ears, do not follow my example! It also took ages for the water to run clear while I was rinsing the dye out, probably three times longer than usual. But it definitely gave an impressive color payoff, it's a lovely dark purple. It looks even better in sunlight, the purple really pops. I was shocked that the dye had no scent to speak of, it was almost truly scentless.

I'm planning on re-purchasing this depending on how the color holds up, I'll update this post after a couple washes and let you know how it's doing.

~Edit~ 3/15/17

This has gone through about six washes and I'm not impressed. My roots a.k.a virgin hair still have a dark purple tint, but the rest of my hair has completely reverted to what it was before. After the first wash there was a huge difference. Even though I washed with cool water this bled horribly and did not have any lasting power. I won't be using this again, I'm definitely going back to my tried and true Schwarzkopf Ultime in Amethyst Black.

See you later~

Rainbow Unicorn & Rose Gold Makeup Brushes

Hello, Lovelies!

It seems like the two top trends that are battling it out at the moment are mermaids v.s unicorns. The latest I've seen are these mermaid tailed brushes, and although they are drop dead gorgeous, I think the clunky handles push them into the impractical zone.

These brushes have got the best of both worlds, they've got magical unicorn horn twirled handles, and you can actually hold them comfortably!
A lovely gal from the site To Save emailed me a couple weeks ago about reviewing some products from the site, and I just had to pick these amazing brushes.

They have synthetic bristles, and you can definitely tell they're plastic by the feel, but when it's 5.87 for a set of twelve, you won't hear me complaining.

They pick up pigments easily and are amazingly soft; I especially love the eyeshadow brushes.

I also chose this 'lil rose gold kabuki brush. I always seal my makeup with a loose powder and this is just the brush for the job. The bristles are super dense but soft and distribute loose powders perfectly. And the cherry on top is this guy is only 4.87! If you want to check out this site, click here.

See you later~

Thrifted OOTD

Hello lovelies!

I thought I'd try a different kind of post today, I've starting hitting up the thrift shops and good will bins more often as of late, and this dress was one of my favorite pieces from my last haul. The shoes are an old pair I thrifted years ago, and the belt is actually off of Amazon, the vendor sent it over for me to try out.
